Robert Corner takes title

Last Saturday saw the Mount Gambier RSL Bowling Club hold its annual Men’s 100-Up Singles Competition.

The format saw bowlers drawn and played a four bowl singles game with points being awarded for the closest four bowls to the jack.

Rain made conditions uneasy with the bowlers having to take refuge on many occasions but the day turned out to be one of some great bowling and close encounters.

Five games were played in the first round, while the quarter finals saw Ian MacIntosh defeat Lindsay Moyle in a game requiring a deciding end due to both reaching 100 at the same time.

Les James overcame Phillip Wilson, Robert Corner was too good for Chris Fenwick, while Brenton Wittwer emerged on top against Gary Bowering. The semi-finals had MacIntosh overcoming James and Corner beating Wittwer to set up a what turned out to be a high class final.

Corner continued his consistent bowling from throughout the day and finally overcome the gallant MacIntosh to take out the competition.
