Sailors start season on dry land

The Port MacDonnell sailing season opened in challenging weather conditions on Saturday – without any sailing taking place.

Unfortunately the first race of the season was called off due to the strong wind making it too dangerous for sailors to race in those conditions.

Despite not being able to sail, the club dinner to celebrate the start of the season was still held at the clubhouse that evening.

Commodore Jennifer Jones with Grant District Mayor Kylie Boston officially opened the 2023-24 sailing season for the Port MacDonnell club.

After the official ceremony, sailors and guests enjoyed a meal and comradery in the warmth of the club house.

The club would like to thank Mayor Boston for her assistance in opening the season and her attendance at the dinner.

The next race of the season is scheduled for this Saturday.
