Saint marches back to MSE club

Ruckman Sam Waring is returning to his home club of Hatherleigh for the 2024 season.

Standing 200cm, Waring is a former vice captain for Hatherleigh as well as a Mid SE Interleague representative.

He played all his career as a Mid-South Eastern Eagle with the exception of the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Millicent.

After an injury-plagued first season at Millicent, Waring played in their A Grade premiership in 2023, represented the Western Border Football League in their inter-league match against the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara and was selected in the South East Zone squad.

Playing alongside him in the Saints premiership team last month were three of his work mates at Big Trev’s Gas and Plumbing: coach Clint Gallio, Kade Varcoe and Sam Willis.

Waring’s return has been welcomed by a Hatherleigh Football Club spokesperson.

“Sam leaves no stone unturned with his determination, preparation and dedication to his football,” the spokesperson said.

Another departure from Millicent is Peter Duncan who has been appointed A Grade coach of South Gambier.

His playing journey involved debuting for Millicent as a 16-year-old and then moving to Port Adelaide where he played in a junior premiership before heading out to Onkaparinga Valley in the Hills Football League.

Duncan was bench and assistant coach with the Saints in their hat-trick of premierships from 2021-23.
