Saleyards committee established

An advisory committee has finally been appointed to oversee the operations of the Millicent cattle saleyards.

After some delay, Wattle Range Council has now filled all 11 positions and established the section 41 committee at its February monthly meeting.

The council itself is represented by its Mayor Des Noll and councillors Dale Price, Deb Agnew and Moira Neagle.

The stock firms have Owen Merrett (Merrett Livestock), John Chay (John Chay & co), Scott Altschwager (Elders) and Jim Noonan (Nutrien) as their representatives.

The other stakeholders are Furner grazier Steve Bellinger (vendor and buyer), Neville Copping (yarding contractor) and Jason Walker (trucking operator).

The new committee will serve until November 2026 and replaces the previous Working Group.

All of its decisions have to be ratified by the council.
