The Science Collective returns to the Showground Halls in Mount Gambier on Sunday for another Science Fair with some brand-new attractions and plenty of your favourite activities of previous fairs.

There will be two three-hour sessions on the day at 10am-1pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm.

Each session will have amazing science shows, engaging displays and plenty of hands-on activities to keep young family members busy for the entire session.

Event organiser Brian Haddy of The Science Collective said he believes these type of events can help affirm the natural curiosity of children and teenagers and encourage them to ask more questions like ‘why is it so?’ and ‘how does it work?’

“The world will be a better place if people choose to be more inquisitive about the world around us, challenging those who spread fake news and conspiracy theories,” he said.

“His message to parents is very clear – ‘you need to give children the green light to keep asking questions and then be patient with them in this regard.

“If you simply do not know the answer, encourage children to do their own research … you might learn something yourself in this process”.

The event this year has been made possible thanks to a major sponsorship from OneFortyOne and support from the City of Mount Gambier with a grant from the SA National Science Week Committee.

The Nature Education Centre will come to Mount Gambier for the first time with their fascinating range of wildlife.

SciWorld will be presenting their amazing Liquid Nitrogen Show and crowd favourite SciFiBri has some new tricks in his Fire and Froth Show.

SciWorld’s huge inflatable planetarium will take you on a journey through the night sky and the shows and attractions will be complemented by a day of hands-on science fun including rocket making and launching, pinwheel creations, bridge building, marshmallow and spaghetti tower challenges and an electric circuit challenge.

Hungry or thirsty? No problems.

The Spud Train food van and Jo’s Espresso Coffee van will be on site.

“We know that with costs rising in many areas a day out with the family needs to be affordable do with the help of our sponsors, we have kept ticket prices as low as possible with a family ticket (two adults and two children or one adult and three children) available for just $24.”

All adults and children will be able to attend at the low entry price of $8 per person, visit www.thesciencecollective.com to purchase tickets.
