Sun shines on city netballers

The sun was shining brightly in the sky at the weekend at Olympic Park as competition heated up in the 2023 Mount Gambier Netball Association season.

In the Under 13A’s, a fiery game erupted between Amazons and Zodiacs that you could not turn away from.

Both teams fought hard for the ball in the firrsst half of the contest, with Amazons trailing by just two goals at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw Jacquelyn Angelina (GA), and Alana Boguta (GS) open up the game, with the duo looking unstoppable for the remainder of the match.

Harper Aschberger (GK) and Lauren White (GD) were fighters throughout the match-up, both achieving intercepts and out of court opportunity moments the Amazons team were desperate to hold onto.

Zodiacs continued being a powerhouse in the match-up and were able to score victory 37-13.

The win firms Zodiacs position at the top of the ladder, followed behind by Hobitz, Intruders and Amazons.

In the B1 competition, Amazons and Intruders took to the court in what was billed as match of the round and it did not disappoint.

From the opening whistle both teams were fiery, with the Intruders team vocal right across the court.

Amity Sheedy (C) was jumping to the skies all over the court, trying to get any intercept possible for Intruders until troubled by an injury in the last quarter of the match.

Despite being sidelined, Sheedy supported her team off the court with true sportsmanship showed when Amazons players checked on her to make sure she was okay.

Bethany Hille (GA) was a standout for Amazons, continuing from her success last season.

Even though Intruders stepped into their in the latter half of the game, Amazons achieved the win 37-22.

Amazons top the ladder in the B1, with Hobitz, Intruders, Saints and Vicis rounding out the table.
