Supermarket calls for support

Alocal supermarket is on the verge of closure after a last-ditch effort urging the community for their support proved unsuccessful.

Foodland Mount Gambier management implemented an eleventh hour effort to save the store recently by fully restocking the shelves.

A spokesperson said the current management took over the store eight months ago and despite making significant changes felt the business was being treated as a convenience store rather than a supermarket.

“We are continuously stocking up with more stock coming,” the spokesperson said.

“The first stock up was done, stock will continue to come in over the next few weeks but we need community support too so we can provide a positive customer experience.

“We are making significant changes and you will see that over coming weeks.

“Sales have not improved and we have unfortunately not had many people coming back and doing their shopping.”

Foodland Mount Gambier continues to run promotions including selling its signature pork belly with wedges last weekend for only $10.

Anyone who spends $30 or more on their shop will go into the draw to win one of two Foodland Mount Gambier gift vouchers valued at $100 each.
