The Royal Flying Doctors Mount Gambier Support Group has recently received a donation of more than $1450 from Dr Mike Bruorton and Hawkins Medical Clinic from the sale of his latest calendar.
Dr Bruorton travels to Africa every year and photographs the wildlife, including subjects such as lions, cheetahs and hyenas which he includes in his annual project.
The Royal Flying Doctors Mount Gambier Support Group publicity officer Maxine Tuffnell said Dr Bruorton and Hawkins Medical Clinic had been supporters of the Royal Flying Doctors for several years and their donations were very much appreciated.
“Last year’s donation helped us build the patient transfer facility and the latest one will go towards items for the comfort of patients and crews,” she said.
“At the moment we are trying to raise enough money to install automatic doors because the current doors are so big and heavy.
“I believe the plane comes in 2-3 times a day and instead of sitting in an ambulance somewhere patients can wait in the facility which is like a hospital waiting room.
“The calendars make amazing Christmas presents or stock fillers.”
