The 2020-21 Mount Gambier and District Tennis Association season rolls into its second round tomorrow night after a successful beginning last weekend.

Proceedings were opened by the top grade on Friday night with a pair of Division 1 matches.

Centrals/Uniting Church appeared in ominous touch during a convincing eight-set win over Reidy Park.

The combined team had no trouble adapting to the new mixed-gender format and won every singles contest to surge to the top of the ladder.

Glencoe also successfully started its campaign against West Gambier.

The first four singles contests were split evenly, but Glencoe wrestled the initiative in the doubles.

West could be in for another tough encounter when it hosts Centrals/ Uniting Church, while Reidy Park faces Glencoe on Saturday afternoon.

The Division 2 competition will perform under the Olympic Park lights tomorrow night after a competitive round of matches on Saturday.

An all West Gambier battle between Red and Blue proved to be a thriller with the pair both scoring six sets each.

However, West Gambier Red prevailed by four games, while another close encounter took place at Olympic Park.

Only one game separated Suttontown and Centrals and the narrow victory went to the latter.

Mount Gambier was in fine form to defeat Uniting Church by six sets and the all-Glencoe clash went to the Gold team, while Mount Schank was too good for Reidy Park.

A pair of Division 2 games will be played tomorrow night at Olympic Park, while the other four fixtures are on Saturday afternoon.
