The Full Monty Big Reveal

Six Limestone Coast men have gone all out to raise $50,000 and shine a spotlight on mental health in the region.

Elliott Jones, Ben Hood, Adam Smith, Don Pratt, Adam Creek and Russell Collins stripped off for the Truck Factory Full Monty Limestone Coast at the Barn Palais, giving the sell-out crowd more than they bargained for.

A full house copped an eyeful on the weekend as six local men dared to bare all to raise $50,000 for mental health services in the Limestone Coast.

Elliott Jones, Ben Hood, Adam Smith, Don Pratt, Adam Creek and Russell Collins stripped off for The Truck Factory Full Monty Limestone Coast at the Barn Palais in front of a sell out crowd.

The event raised funds for Lifeboat SE, The Junction, Mount Gambier and Districts Suicide Prevention Network and the Mount Gambier and Districts Health Advisory Council.

Mr Hood – the fifth Monty – said it was a fantastic night which achieved its goal of raising awareness of mental health in the region.

“We received monumental support from individuals and businesses around the region,” he said.

“The silent auction and main auction were really well supported with a significant part of that $50,000 being raised from that.

“Our naming sponsor The Truck Factory obviously was a huge support for the event and they poneyed up an extra bit of money for the boys to do a nudie run through the crowd after the big reveal.”

Looking back on the event, Mr Hood said the men were immensely proud of their efforts.

“In talking with all the boys we all agree it was a bit of a blur, our main concern was making sure we got the routine down,” he said.

“Once we got to the point the g-strings came off and the hats were thrown in the air it was quite liberating to be completely stark naked in front of 400 people.

“Our small sacrifice in getting our kit off in front of a lot of people will go to help a lot of people in the region.”

Mr Hood said it was humbling to be part of such a successful event, which featured guest panellists from Lifeboat SE, The Junction and Headspace.

“We have had so many people reach out to us and thank us for what we have done – and at the end of the day, us boys we took our clothes off but there were so many more people behind the scenes doing such a lion share of the work,” he said.

“People have just said they loved the night, one of the big things to come of it was that everyone did not believe we were going to get our kit off, they thought the lights would go off, the hats would stay on, but everyone got a very big surprise when we were fully naked and an extra surprise when we did a nudie run.

“Everyone is saying that myself and Russell might have a new career in being sprinters cos we have never run so fast in our life.”

The group is also bringing out a Full Monty calendar, which can be ordered for $25 via their Facebook page.
