Tigers fired up for Murphies clash

This weekend’s Mid South East Netball Association game between Tantanoola and Glencoe looks set to be the match of the round.

The Tigers will host the Murphies in the clash between second and third on the ladder, with Tant looking to reverse the result last time the two sides met.

The remaining three fixtures look to be one-sided affairs, with Hatherleigh hosting ladder leaders Kalangadoo, Kongorong heading to the seaside to take on Robe, and Mount Burr hosting Nangwarry, while Port MacDonnell has the bye.

Hatherleigh v Kalangadoo

Last time the Eagles and the Pies met Kalangadoo proved too strong, downing Hatherleigh 57-40.

The Maggies currently sit top of the ladder, having only dropped one game this year, while the Eagles are in seventh position.

The Pies continued their winning ways last week, defeating Mount Burr 58-47, while the Eagles proved too good for Kongorong, winning 60-23.

Despite the Eagles holding the home court advantage, the Pies should record another comfortable win on Saturday.

Robe v Kongorong

The Roosters soundly defeated the Hawks earlier in the season, taking the win 72-44.

Robe is fourth on the ladder, while Kongorong are second bottom, having only secured the one win.

Both sides are coming off losses as last week Kongorong lost to Hatherleigh 23-60 and the Roosters went down to Glencoe 46-69.

The Hawks should not pose too much of a challenge for the Roosters, with Robe set for an easy win.

Mount Burr v Nangwarry

The Mozzies comprehensively dealt with the Saints last time they met in a 60-19 result.

The Saints are languishing at the bottom of the ladder still winless, while the Burr holds down sixth position having split its results this season.

Nangwarry last week suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Port MacDonnell, going down 2-73, while Mount Burr also lost to Kalangadoo 47-58.

The Mozzies will bounce back this week against the young Saints side, which looks set to remain winless again this round.

Tantanoola v Glencoe

The Murphies had a 71-61 win over the Tigers when they last met.

Glencoe is second on the ladder, with Tant in third, with this match promising to be a close encounter.

The Murphies showed their strength last week, soundly defeating Robe by 23, after the two sides drew earlier in the year.

It demonstrated Glencoe’s continued improvement this season, with the Murphies only having one loss and the draw so far.

Tantanoola should have fresh legs coming off the bye, while Glencoe had a solid 23 goal win over Robe last week.

The Tigers will prove a challenge for Glencoe, but the Murphies will continue their winning ways this season in what will be a great match.
