Tipster delivers where it matters

Mount Gambier man and avid AFL fan Justin Lamont has taken out this year’s The SE Voice online football competition walking away with a grand prize of $1000 cash.

Mr Lamont has placed in the top tipsters for most of the year also winning a few of the weekly prizes awarded to the winner of each round.

“We are building a house so the prize money will go towards a few extras we can now include,” Mr Lamont said.

“I have been keeping track of the leader board throughout the year and am very excited to have won.

“The last two weeks have been nerve-wracking, so I spent more time thinking about it.

“This year I have been tipping on a Wednesday night before I know where the teams are playing so I just tipped on instinct.”

Despite having placed third in his family AFL football tipping competition, Mr Lamont said he “won the one that matters”.

“I am looking forward to next year’s competition,” he said.

The SE Voice’s sales manager Melissa Prior said the paper had been overwhelmed by the strong number of tipsters entering the weekly competition.

“Given it was the first time we had run a weekly competition, we were hoping the readers would embrace it,” she said.

“We were blown away by the huge number of tipsters entering, it was a fantastic response.”

Mrs Prior said The SE Voice had already securing a naming rights sponsor for next year’s AFL tipping competition.

“We’d like to congratulate Justin on his win and look forward to others trying to claim his title next year,” she said.

“Thanks must go to everyone who participated in this year’s competition, we could not have done it without you.
