Toy run ready to roll out

This year’s Limestone Coast Toy Run is revved and ready to hit the road this Saturday.

The cavalcade of classic motorcycles and vehicles completes a cross-region tour collecting gifts for children in need this festive season.

The convoy of vehicles will leave at various departure points in Mount Gambier, Millicent, Naracoorte and Penola before coming together for the main run.

The main run will meet at Endeavour at 12noon and is scheduled to depart at 12.30pm and continue on to ac.care.

The generous donations will be handed over to ac.care who will then distribute the toys in time to bring joy on Christmas morning to many children across the region.

After four years, Baptist Care have stepped down from running the event with Easy Riders stepping up to steer the event.

John Bonney from Easy Riders has been helping to keep this year’s event on the road.

While there will be no show or show ‘n’ shine, Mr Bonney said all are welcome to join in the convoy.

“This year we are going to go back to the basics of just the toy run, it’s about getting the toys for children and supporting those in our community in need.

“We thank everyone who has supported and continue to support such a great event.”

An Easy Riders SMC member will lead each group from each departure points.

Those taking part are encouraged to show and share in the spirit of the festive season by dressing up or decorating their vehicle.

Donations suitable for children and teens of all ages, such as toys and gifts cards, will be accepted.

However, the club reminds no cash donations.

These donations will be a significant contributor to ac.care’s annual Christmas Cheer support program.

Last year over 250 applicants received food, vouchers and gifts from the Mount Gambier community centre over the festive season.
