Treatment talk radiates

Abriefing on the pending Radiation Treatment Feasibility Study was due to be delivered yesterday to the two new Labor Government-appointed board members of the Limestone Coast Local Health Network.

Lisa Bishop and Glenn Rappensberg were appointed to the $23,000 per annum part-time roles last month by Health Minister Chris Picton.

The health network board and 11 SA Health staff members met in Millicent yesterday afternoonand the outcome of their deliberations was not available at time of going to press.

The radiation treatment feasibility study issue was the subject of a seven-page report and discussion was due to be led by health network acting chief executive Alison Miller.

It was one of the agenda items for the meeting which was expected to run for almost four hours.

A period of 45 minutes was earmarked for a presentation by Millicent Hospital executive officer/director of nursing Michelle de Wit on activities at her facility.

Correspondence congratulating Millicent Hospital for its exceptional performance was also due to be tabled.

Ahead of the formal meeting, health network board members and senior SA Health staff inspected progress on the upgrading of the former Matron’s Apartment at Millicent Hospital into accommodation for visiting trainee nurses.

A celebratory lunchtime barbecue will be held on site today to mark the completion of the first two stages and to thank those individuals, companies and groups who have donated labour, goods and cash.

The student nurse accommodation upgrade project is an initiative of the Millicent and Surrounding Areas Health Support Group.
