Tri-Club trophy retained

The Millicent Golf Club has seen off stiff competition from the Blackwood and Loxton clubs to retain the prestigious Tri-Club trophy for 2022.

The competition has been running for around 30 years with rounds hosted in turn over the holiday long weekends in March, June and October of each year.

Millicent golfers achieved a come-from-behind victory on their home course at the beginning of this month and eased Blackwood off the top of the podium.

The Tri-Club trophy is based on results over the three weekends with Millicent achieving a hat-trick in 2022.

Blackwood sent a 20-strong playing contingent to the South East region and a spokesperson was full of praise for their hosts.

“The weather was a warm 21 degrees and the course was a dream to play, plenty of run and fast greens,” the spokesperson said.

“Millicent rolled out the red carpet with superb hospitality, tasty country fare and live music for the presentation dinner.”

Meanwhile, there was another highlight at the awards presentation dinner with Millicent Golf Club president Mark Pilmore handing out life membership to Mardi Sunderland.

As well as being a talented golfer, she has volunteered countless hours of committee service and undertaken various administrative and catering chores.
