Trio takes out title

On a very chilly but clear day 32 ladies participated in the Harvey Day Medley Three Person Stableford.

A count-back was eventually needed to determine the winners. Eventually Jan Shanahan, Vicki Clark and Helen McIntyre were declared the winners with 74 points.

This team consolidated their scores amassing 22 points on the last three holes with McIntyre contributing nine points herself paring the 16th 17th and 18th holes.

She also complied the best individual with 37 points, being the only player to go below her handicap in the heavy conditions. Falling just short were Heather Teakle, Maureen Sims and Donna Jennings.

Teakle scored four points on the ninth hole with a great birdie. The Pro-Shot award winning three balls, went to visitor Linda Winterborn.

Collecting a ball each in the ball run-down were the teams of three – Yvonne Shirley, Marie Douglas and Anne Headlam (72 points) and Faye Mainwaring, Heather Chapman and Di O’Donnell (69 points).

Next weeks competition will be the Monthly Medal, also incorporating the second round of the International Bowl and Handicap Championship. Fourteen ladies participated in a Stableford round last Saturday and the winning player was the enthusiastic Janina Morrison.

Morrison played a very consistent game registering 18 points both nines, while Sharon Waters and Penne Saffin completed the podium.
