Van Schaik’s Bio Gro operation expands

An exciting expansion is happening for Van Schaik’s Bio Gro, which recently acquired an EPA licenced facility in Newbridge, Victoria.

The facility will support the continuing growth of Bio Gro and establishing additional organics recovery infrastructure in Victoria.

The acquisition includes a 400-acre parcel of land with supporting equipment and infrastructure, which will allow Bio Gro to start operation within the 2022 calendar year.

Van Schaik’s Bio Gro’s new site is located within 30 minutes of Bendigo and was formerly the operations of ScatoPlus, a producer of compost for mushroom growers.

Bio Gro operates local facilities in Mount Gambier and Wandilo and has provided a range of high-quality products from organics for almost 50 years, processing more than 300,000 tonnes of organic material each year.

“We are extremely excited by this acquisition and the opportunity for Bio Gro to assist the State of Victoria in meeting their objectives of creating additional organics recovery infrastructure,” Bio Gro managing director Stephen Van Schaik said.

“And equally for Bio Gro creating additional manufacturing capacity to meet our customer demand.

“Our range of products are a key component in sustainably improving soil and plant health and we’re looking forward to the Newbridge operation being another new chapter in our growth story.

“We are committed and looking forward to the investment in the region in terms of job creation, support services and local businesses as we look to continue our growth in the coming years.”
