Vickery vote support discussed

Wattle Range Council will gather for its monthly meeting in Millicent tonight and consider if it will support the candidacy of Naracoorte Lucindale Mayor Erika Vickery for a leading state-wide role.

Ms Vickery is one of six nominees who are seeking the votes from 68 councils to be the next president of the Local Government Association of South Australia.

She has been an elected member of her local council for 22 years including the past 12 as its mayor.

Lucindale farmer Patrick Ross is challenging Ms Vickery for the mayoralty of Naracoorte Lucindale.

The South East has supplied two LGA presidents in the past 30 years: former Tatiara District chairman John Ross and the late John Legoe, of Kingston.
