Wattle Range youths sign up for water care initiative

Entries are now invited for Wattle Range Council’s 2021 Sign Design Competition.

Young creatives of Wattle Range will have the opportunity to win $150 cash and have their design displayed on signs to be installed at the beach, lakes and creeks within the council region.

In a competition to be held in conjunction with Youth Week in Wattle Range 2021, council is calling for talented young local artists and designers (12-25 years of age) to create a sign that encourages people to care for our sensitive waterways.

“Wattle Range Council has beautiful beaches and unique waterway environments that are sadly, often impacted by human activity,” council’s Development Services Director Emma Clay said. “The youth of our region can help to encourage the protection and care for our beaches, coastlines and lakes.

“This is a unique chance to spread an important message and have your design published for all to see.”

The winning sign will be printed by council and installed at one or more locations throughout Wattle Range. Last year’s winning design by Louise Stanley was developed into an aluminium sign and installed on the coastline at Southend. Entries close Monday.
