Wine bar corked

The Mount Gambier Koonara Summer Fiesta Pop-Up Wine Bar scheduled to be held on January 14 was postponed due to the current COVID-19 situation in SA.

Koonara Wines Director Nicole Reschke said she devastated the event had to be rescheduled, but was hopeful it could be held before the end of summer.

“We’ll just have to wait and see how things progress and what the safest thing is to do for everybody,” Ms Reschke said.

“We believe it’s the right call with the community at the moment to not host such an event.”

Ms Reschke said Koonara did not want to put the community at risk.

“Everyone is on high alert, so it’s just best to postpone these things until we can all do it in a safe and enjoyable way,” she said.

Ms Reschke said the Summer Fiesta event was a great opportunity to see everybody while they enjoyed themselves in a great atmosphere filled with Koonara wine, local beer and cider, food vendors and live entertainment.

“We were so excited to be hosting the event, it’s something that we always look forward to in January,” she said.

Ms Reschke thanked the community for their understanding regarding the postponing of the event.

“Everyone has been supportive and nothing but good wishes to look forward to coming at a time when they can,” she said.

“We appreciate the community spirit everybody in our region has about wanting to keep everybody safe and appreciating things from the businesses’ viewpoint. It’s encouraging to see.

“We know when we can do it, it will be a great success and it’ll be good for the community.”
