Winning form key heading into semi-final

Mid South East Netball Association finals kick off in earnest this weekend, when Nangwarry hosts the first semi finals.

A Grade – Tantanoola v robe

The A Grade match will feature Tantanoola facing off against Robe in what is set to be a thrilling contest.

The Roosters finished third this season, just one point ahead of the Tigers, in what has been a tightly contested rivalry.

Tantanoola’s Kate Varcoe and Robe’s Annie Regnier will fight hard from the first whistle for their respective teams, working up and down the court to create turnovers and chase up any loose balls.

Robe defenders Alannah Campbell and Emilie Gould combine well in the circle, getting hands to balls and creating turnovers.

Tigers’ Emma Gould and Jami Walker will move with ease in the circle, shooting with accuracy and being fed from outside the circle by Casey Walker.

Down the other end of the court Kate Bromley and Bella Poulish will work overtime for the Tigers applying pressure to Robe’s accurate goalies in Demi Carter and Sarah Laurie.

The Tigers have come away winners both times these teams have played through the season and will come away with the win again, sending them through to the preliminary final at Kalangadoo.

A Reserve – Port MacDonnell v Glencoe

The Murphies are set to face off against the Demons this weekend at Nangwarry, vying for a spot in the A Reserve preliminary final. Glencoe’s Zoe Mulraney and Madeline Watson work well together in the goal circle, shooting with accuracy and getting hands to any rebounds, however they will be under intense pressure from Shannon Scheidl and Lara Wilson.

Down the other end of the court Port Mac goalies Kelli von Stanke and Brooke Williams move with ease and convert for their team. Murphies’ Tameka Medhurst and Samantha Cordy use their height to their advantage, working any rebounds and turnovers back down the court through Samantha Brierly and Jessie Gosden. Port MacDonnell youngster Bailee Lewis will apply intense pressure around the circle, picking up any loose balls for her team.

Glencoe won last time these two teams went head to head and their strength and determination will likely get them over the line again.

B Grade – Tantanoola v Port MacDonnell

The Tigers and the Demons will battle it out for a spot in the B Grade preliminary final. Stevie Collins and Ashlee Schwertfeger work well in the defensive circle for Port Mac, putting pressure on Tant’s Hijisa Hale and Lauren Fensom who are both accurate shooters. Dannielle Vanderheul will work tirelessly on the outside of the circle, feeding her goalies with accuracy, under the pressure of Port Mac’s Candace Merrett.

Demons’ Kelly Millard and Elivia Stanley combine in the gaol circle however they will be under intense pressure from Indianna Marshall and Erin Dawe with their hands over defense and intense pressure.

The Tigers have won both times these teams have come up against each other in the minor rounds and will come away victorious again in the first semi final.

B Reserve – Tantanoola v Kalangadoo

Tantanoola and Kalangadoo face off in the B Reserve first semi final.

Maddi Wilkinson and Jodi Greenwood have been a formidable goalie combination this season, with both moving well and shooting with ease throughout the circle, being well supported from outside by Emily Devine and Ange Case. Amy Mason will be able to use her height to create turnovers, working the ball back down the court with the help of Leah Kuiper and Kath Reilly.

Down the other end of the court Lauren Newman and Holly Walker will work together to score for the Tigers, shooting with ease in the circle. Kalangadoo’s Gemma Box and Deb Mulligan will create turnovers and force errors, picking up loose balls and sending the ball back down the court through Ange Case.

The Pies have won both times these teams have played so far this season and will likely come away with the win this weekend, heading into the preliminary final at Kalangadoo.

17 & Under – Hatherleigh v Port MacDonnell

Hatherleigh and Port MacDonnell go head to head in the first semi final at Nangwarry this weekend, both fighting for a chance to play in the preliminary final in two weeks’ time.

With the loss of captain Kalli Nettle to an injury the Eagles will need to work harder to score, utilising Amber Chester’s ability to feed into Chloe Bellinger with accuracy. Bree Ridding and Alicetyn Stanley will fight hard to force errors and create turnovers for the Demons, utilising the speed and agility of Sophie Lewis and Ruby Moody to work the ball back down the court to their goalies.

Hatherleigh’s Niah Faulkner and Hannah Bellinger will combine well to gain intercepts and convert for their team, working the ball back down the court through strong midcourter Deni Brown.

Both teams have had a win throughout the season and both have the ability to go through to the prelim.

15 & Under – Glencoe v Kongorong

Glencoe and Kongorong will fight it out in the 15 & Under first semi final for a spot in the preliminary final. Glencoe’s Ella Stewart and Chloe Childs will combine well in the goal circle, shooting with accuracy even under the pressure from Kongorong’s defenders.

Down the other end of the court Isabella Brierly and Ruby Buckley will work overtime to shut down the Hawks’ goalies, making them earn every gaol. Layla Hawke’s drive through the midcourt and feeding into the goalies will have a strong impact on the game and will need to be countered by Kongorong.

Both teams have had a win in the minor rounds, with the game having the potential to go either way.

13 & Under – Mount Burr v Glencoe

Mount Burr and Glencoe are set to face off again in the 13 & Unders, after just playing against each other last week in the final round of the minor season.

Both teams have a win under their belt in through the season, with the Mozzies coming out victorious in round 18.

Glencoe’s Emma Burdon and Hallie Sealey will combine well in the circle fighting hard under the defensive pressure of Mozzies’ Isabelle Ballantyne and Emily Lowndes.

Mount Burr’s Alice Smith and Murphy Charlotte Bignell will tough it out through the midcourt, both fighting for the ball for their respective teams. Sophie Smith shoots with accuracy for the Mozzies and will be well supported by Poppy McKenzie, under the strong pressure of Glencoe’s Jaylee Gosden and Jasmine Haase.

Both teams have a chance to come out on top this weekend in a game that will be tough fought by all players.
