Women’s football set to bounce

Get your boots polished and new laces in because the Limestone Women’s Under 16 competition is about to get under way on this Sunday with a double header of round 1 and 2 to be played at Kongorong.

The weekend will start with the first game between reigning and inaugural premiers Kongorong taking on North Gambier followed by Kybybolite up against the Hatherleigh, while South Gambier will have the bye in round one.

Round 2 will kick off at 12.30 with North Gambier taking on cross-town rival South Gambier before Hatherleigh tackles Kongorong at 1.45pm.

There are 10 rounds scheduled for the Under 16 season to be played at a number of locations, with the majority taking place on a Friday night.

The grand final will be played at Vansittart Park on December 9.

All teams are preparing new-look sides and will take a bit of time for each side to settle in over the first two weeks of competition.

The highlight of last year’s fixture was that it was the first year of the under 16 competition, which went off with a bang as the young Hawks claimed the premiership, with the side hungry to go back-to-back when the new season gets under way.
