Prices slipped on the 2024 figures at the recent annual Baker family cattle sale at their Woonallee Simmentals stud at Furner.
The figures were in line with an industry trend and followed a poor season in many parts of the nation last year.
A gathering of 180 witnessed the 18th annual sale on Thursday which was nearly a sell-out and grossed around the $1m mark.
Overall, 93 of the 100 bulls on offer were sold under the hammer and averaged $11,043.
All 20 Simmental bulls sold to a sale high of $30,000 and averaged $15,027.
The top price was paid for Lot 1 Woonallee Kiwi U316 and it went to Boomey Park, Molong NSW.
All bar two of the 42 Black Simmental bulls were sold to $26,000.
This was achieved by Lot 26 Woonallee Rendezvous U320 which went to Karragarra Simmentals and Lot 38 Woonallee Missile U639 which was purchased by Magpie Park Simmentals.
The average was $10,412.
There were 33/37 SimAngus bulls sold to $17,000 and an average of $9424.
The best price was achieved by Lot 73 Woonallee Rembrandt U417 wh
ich is bound for Santaco Rural Pty Ltd, Tamworth NSW.
As in the previous 17 sales, the Baker family provided lunch, dinner and refreshments to all in attendance at the sale.
Catering was provided by Lumberjack barbecues and the selling agents were Elders and Auctions Plus.
Among the onlookers was 87-year-old Millicent mechanic Max Blacketer who is on duty at the Woonallee workshop every week day.
