X-TRAIL drive electrified

Nissan continues to push the boundaries of motoring, with the latest and greatest X-TRAIL shifting towards the future with ground-breaking electric vehicle technology.

The Nissan X-TRAIL has been an SUV icon on Australian roads for more than two decades, with the all-new fourth generation being re-imagined to be capable of crossing over into every aspect of your day with a suite of Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety features, unmatched interior versatility and advanced technology all encased in a modern, athletic exterior.

But where the new Nissan SUV really electrifies your senses is with it’s all new e-POWER Petrol Electric system and e-4ORCE electric-drive four-wheel control technology across the ST-L, Ti and Ti-L X-TRAIL variants.

The ‘electrified experience’ is unique to the Nissan stable, with two electric motors, a petrol engine and a lithium battery combining to achieve an EV-like driving experience delivering near-instant acceleration response and an almost silent driving sensation without the need to plug the vehicle in to recharge.

A 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine is neatly tucked away with the sole purpose of delivering power to charge up the electric motor and battery system – and even when the petrol powerplant kicks into gear to begin charging, it is extremely silent.

The SE Voice was recently given the opportunity to put the new X-TRAIL Ti e-Power through it’s paces and see just how well the new powertrain combination worked. It was instantly clear that the sheer quietness of how the vehicle drove both in town and out on the open road, was exceptional – so good in-fact, that you would be forgiven for believing the vehicle was not even running at all.

When the petrol engine kicks into gear to charge up the EV battery system, the only sound you can hear within the cabin is a low humming noise – and this is only evident if you turn down the stereo or sit in silence in a bid to try and hear it.

Taking an extra step with the electric technology, Nissan has allowed owners to experience a more intuitive way to drive which is unique to X-TRAIL e-POWER models through it’s e-Pedal Step. This addition gives drivers to the option to accelerate and decelerate effectively with just the accelerator pedal at speeds above 10kph, leaving the brake pedal for harder braking or coming to a complete stop.

You can even dial up the adventure further with up to five selectable drive and terrain modes including automatic, sport, eco, off-road and snow.

On the outside, the all-newly redesigned SUV pairs classic X-TRAIL design elements through an aerodynamic exterior which is complemented by sharp LED headlights, an evolved Nissan V-Motion grille, floating roofline and for the first time on X-TRAIL, two tone body colours on select models.

Nissan has packed a wide selection of colour-ways into the latest X-TRAIL release, with Scarlet Ember, Solid White, Brilliant Silver, Gun Metallic, Caspian Blue (as pictured), Diamond Metallic, Champagne Silver, Ivory Pearl and Ceramic Grey available across the e-POWER X-TRAIL range – and for an extra splash of style, the Ti and Ti-L are available with a black roof on select colour-ways.

On the inside, the all-new X-TRAIL delivers a high level of craftsmanship with functionality in mind to handle everything you and your family can throw at it. An abundance of USB charging points and a wireless charging pad also feature to ensure all modern-day devices are charged to capacity for the long haul across the countryside.

Checking the vehicle’s engine and travel vitals has also never been easier, with three new displays including a 12.3-inch intuitive touch-screen, 10.8-inch Head-Up Display and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster allowing owners to customise information so you see what’s most important to the individual clearly and easily.

Smartphone integration has been taken to the next level with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity meaning you can stream all your favourite music with ease through the high-quality on-board sound system.

The all-new X-TRAIL has an extra set of eyes in the form of advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety technology that looks out for you and your family, in every direction.

This incredible support system thinks fast and responds faster, combining ProPILOT semi-autonomous driving, Head-Up Display and a comprehensive suite of active safety interventions ensuring you remain in absolute control, always.
