Mount Gambier drivers dominated the opening round of the Dunlop SeriesSuper2s at Bathurst.

The Blue Lake city’s Kai Allen and Jobe Stewart Racing showcased their skills during racing at Mount Panorama on Saturday and Sunday.

The duel saw Kai the reigning Super2 champion up against Jobe as last year’s reigning Super3 champion.

Kai won race one on Saturday, and on Sunday morning crossed the line only 0.08 seconds faster than Jobe in qualifying.

The duo started side by side on the front row of the grid in race two on Sunday afternoon.

Jobe got the jump on Kai early, snatching first place, before Kai regained the lead only a handful of laps later.

Kai took the win again in race two, with Jobe finishing second only 0.582 seconds behind.

It was Kai’s fifth straight podium finish, with commentators already speculating that he might be the first driver to win back to back Super2 Championships.

“What a way to finish off the weekend, a great way to start off the year,” Kai said.

“Jobe did an unreal job getting off the line.”
