Young priest shares story

One of the youngest priests in Australia has recently told an ecumenical group how he ministers to Catholic congregations at Mount Gambier, Millicent, Beachport and Port MacDonnell.

Father Olek Stirrat addressed the latest quarterly breakfast gathering of the Millicent Men’s Church Fellowship at St Alphonsus Hall.

He was only 26 years of age when he was ordained to the priesthood in 2022 at a ceremony in St Francis Xavier Catholic Cathedral in Adelaide.

Of Polish ancestry, Father Stirrat was appointed to the South East parishes in 2021 after being made a deacon.

He assists parish priest Father Peter Zwaans from their base in Mount Gambier.

The next ecumenical men’s breakfast will be hosted by the Millicent Community Church in August.
