Bowls club keeps rolling

The Penola Bowling Club continues to be active throughout the festive season, following the Christmas dinner that was held last month.

Members and their partners were treated to meat cooked and kindly donated by Roger Gibbs.

The club conducted its annual ‘ham and turkey social day’, with 25 bowlers attending.

Ian Hetherington bowled well and won the ham while Adrian Wicks won the turkey.

At the conclusion of the day, the club’s major raffle was drawn and the winner was Mary Barclay of Penola while Peter Starich also of Penola won the second prize.

Social bowls and club championship events continue to be held, with the men’s singles club championship held on Saturday.

However, it could not be completed due inclement weather and the final between Ken Batt and Don Messenger had to be completed on Sunday.

Pennant bowling will commence on January 19 with the Division 1 Ladies playing Millicent at Millicent and the Division 2 Ladies to play Millicent at Penola.

Open Pennants will commence on January 13 with Division 2 Naracoorte at Naracoorte, Division 3 North will play Naracoorte RSL at Penola and Division 3 South will play Millicent at Millicent.
