Medical care extended

Limestone Coast breast cancer patients will continue to benefit from the McGrath Foundation thanks to a partnership with NRMA Insurance.

NRMA Insurance will continue its sponsorship of nurse Kate Williams, based in Naracoorte, as well as extending its sponsorship to a second nurse in NSW.

Ms Williams provides support between two bases in Bordertown and the clinic at Naracoorte Hospital.

NRMA Insurance has donated $420,000 to the McGrath Foundation which will fund the two McGrath Breast Care Nurses for the next three years, helping hundreds of families.

With 57 people diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Australia there is an increasing need for specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses to support those impacted.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses help breast cancer patients with a diverse range of physical, emotional and psychological needs by offering care and support at no cost.

McGrath Foundation Co-Founder and President Glenn McGrath welcomed the announcement.

“Our nurses help patients and their families navigate the complex medical system as well as the feelings that come with a breast cancer diagnosis and throughout the treatment process,” he said.

“With the growing rate of breast cancer diagnoses in Australia, the funding we receive from NRMA Insurance is vital and is helping us towards achieving our goal of funding 250 nurses, to help ensure no one misses out on care.”

In 2023 NRMA Insurance announced its sponsorship of South Australian McGrath Breast Care Nurse Kate Williams for three years.

NRMA Insurance Chief Customer and Marketing Officer Michelle Klein said the business was proud to continue and extend its support for the foundation.

“We have seen firsthand the incredible impact Kate Williams has had in her community in South Australia,” she said.

“From diagnosis right throughout treatment, McGrath Breast Care Nurses help individuals and their families free of charge. This support is invaluable and importantly gives people time in their lives that is not defined by breast cancer.”

The vital funds were raised during the NRMA Insurance Pink Test’s Jane McGrath Day in Sydney, with cricket fans taking part in the NRMA Insurance Pitch-In activation playing a part in the fundraising as every hit equated to a $1 donation from NRMA Insurance.

On top of that for every NRMA Insurance policy sold on the January 5, NRMA Insurance donated $100 to the McGrath Foundation.
