Manslaughter guilty plea

The man accused of the murder of Millicent mother of three Synamin Bell has instead pleaded guilty to manslaughter

Millicent man Cody James Edwards is alleged to have murdered the 26-year-old at her Poole Street home in March 2022.

He had pleaded not guilty to murder and his Mount Gambier Supreme Court trial began on June 5.

His Honour Justice Adam Kimber has overseen the trial in the absence of a jury.

On the fifth day of the trial yesterday (Wednesday), Mr Edwards changed his plea.

It was accepted by the prosecutors and Mr Edwards was remanded in custody.

Sentencing submissions will be heard by Justice Kimber in September.
