Accused ordered to answer murder charge

The man accused of the murder of Millicent mother-of-three Synamin Bell has been ordered to answer the charge in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court next month.

Millicent man Cody James Edwards, 26, is alleged to have murdered the 26-year-old at her Millicent home in March of last year.

Mr Edwards appeared before Magistrate Koula Kossiavelos from custody via video link in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court last week.

The matter was adjourned and Mr Edwards was ordered to reappear in the same court at noon on April 17.

Magistrate Kossiavelos agreed to an application from the defence counsel Oliver Cole for an adjournment.

This will allow time for a psychiatric assessment and to explore Section 369 matters.
