Millicent Black Hats v Kingston
The Millicent Black Hats have made the best possible start to their premiership defence as their two wins means they are outright leaders of the Millicent/Naracoorte Cricket Association.
The hero in round two was teen Ellis Cushion as he top-scored with 67 in a game-deciding innings.
He has made a full recovery from the serious knee injury which kept him from playing football with Tantanoola over winter.
The ladder leaders face the seasiders who went within three runs of victory last Saturday against the Naracoorte Townies.
Lucindale v Rendelsham
Rendelsham is on the road for the first time in the 2024/25 season and makes the 160km round trip to Lucindale.
There were few positives to take out of their round two trouncing by the Naracoorte Warriors with the exception of a daring late innings knock of 22 by veteran wicketkeeper/batsman Dwayne Gray.
For the umpteenth time in a 30+ year career, his runs down the order were invaluable.
His latest effort ensured the side reached triple figures but 101 was never going to be enough.
Nevertheless, it will give Gray plenty to talk about when the annual gathering of past and present Rendelsham cricketers is held in Adelaide.
It takes place in the Members Reserve of Adelaide Oval during the test match.
Saturday will also be Lucindale’s second match having claimed the opening round on a forfeit.
Naracoorte Townies v Mount Burr
Mount Burr has to wait another few weeks before it plays on Mick and Jean Walker Oval for the first time this season.
That November 23 fixture is against Rendelsham and there is a possibility the annual Smith/Walker Trophy might be contested.
The oval has an excellent lighting system and such contests create a splendid social atmosphere.
In the meantime, Mount Burr travels to Naracoorte to take on the Townies.
The visitors will be looking for good performances from all-rounder Nathan Muhovics and captain/opener Jordan Muhovics.
