Local author and adventurer Adam Branford has turned the page on a new chapter officially launching his debut novel ‘Cows, Curries and Chaos’ this month at the Mount Gambier City Hall.
The book is based on a trip Mr Branford took to India in 2015 travelling nearly 3000km in two weeks in a “notoriously unreliable” Tuk-Tuk as part of The Adventurist’s Rickshaw run.
Nearly 120 people attended the evening with the story of the novel being told through a series of images and stories as it happened on Mr Branford’s trip.
Following the presentation, a question-and-answer session was held before book signings.
Mr Branford said he was truly humbled by the number of friends, family, work colleagues and interested people that attended the evening.
“I even saw my grade seven teacher from Adelaide, Mrs Oster, who I had not seen for 40 years,” he said.
“The event was a success with many laughs shared among the group.
“A huge thanks must go to Kristi Brooks from the Mount Gambier Library for all the effort she put in to preparing, promoting and running the event.”
Mr Branford said he had wanted to publish a book since he started teaching, nearly 30 years ago.
“The whole process is time consuming, but it is a dream of mine so I am enjoying it,” he said.
“Now I have published a book and embarked on some cool adventures people call me an author and adventurer which I struggle with, but I will get used to.
“I am still getting positive feedback and I have a few other authors talks in the pipeline. Hopefully I can get the next book out in the next couple of months and then do it all again.”
