Mount Gambier’s Cave Gardens was transformed into a big, bold beach party on Sunday afternoon, as two local drag queens took the stage.
The drag beach party was held as part of the Mount Gambier City Council’s “Summer on Watson”.
Local artist April Hague joined with the Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre to host a life drawing class, with drag queens Ophelia Butt and Annie But’il-do taking centre stage.
The dressed up duo posed for 25 artists who spent the afternoon sketching the scene, much to the delight of passers-by.
Ms Hague said the event sold out, with a diverse range of people attending.
“My friend Jane Van Eeten and I co-facilitate sessions of Life Drawing Mount Gambier in the City Hall every month, but it was so exciting for us to present this offering in the Cave Gardens,” she said.
“We had a lot of interest on the day from people who are keen to join our regular program – Drag Queens are certainly good at drawing attention!
“I was so thrilled the event had such a great response and it was enjoyed by all.”
