Ag hub launch

The new Agriculture Hub at Mount Gambier’s TAFE SA campus has been officially opened by Minister for Education, Training and Skills Blair Boyer with Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Clare Scriven and Member for Mount Gambier Troy Bell.

The $1.6m hub was a joint initiative by the federal and state governments and offers courses in Agriculture, Horticulture, and Conservation and Ecosystem Management.

Mr Bell said the hub would be a place where students could work on their practical learning skills in a controlled environment.

“The facility will offer professional skill development in primary industry sectors which are important to the Limestone Coast’s economy,” he said.

“This is just the start of the most significant investment in education and training our region has ever seen.

“Very shortly there will be an exciting announcement regarding the $35m Technical College which is in addition to the already announced $5m for TAFE and $5m for forestry, all located at our training precinct on wireless Road West.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our community and future generations to train local and stay local.

“I am still pushing for student accommodation to be built around the precinct, so we can attract more students to our region and grow the education sector.”
