Annual dance celebration

The Margaret Cleves School of Dance held its 64th annual concert and presentation of trophies recently in front of a large crowd.


Members of the dancing studio community enjoyed a two-course dinner at the Barn Palais prior to the performance in which dancers performed a combination of traditional highland dances and choreography.


“Our dancers performed beautifully and had a wonderful night,” Margaret Cleves School of Dance principal Margaret Reichelt OAM said.


Ms Reichelt congratulated examination students on their outstanding results and many achievements throughout the year.


The end of year trophies were presented by Chief of the Mount Gambier Caledonian Society Margaret Winterfield OAM.


Abbey Freebairn won the prestigious Deidre Harvey Memorial Trophy for the most outstanding student for 2023, with the runner up most outstanding award presented to Agnes Sim.


Meanwhile, the Trevor Bellinger Memorial Trophy for junior dancers was won by Immogen Collins-Van Schaik, following in the footsteps of her sister Dakota Collins-Van Schaik who was the 2022 recipient.


Anna Le Cornu was presented with the Richard Reichelt Memorial Trophy and Abigail Virgo won the Chisholm Cup for the most improved student.
