Artists wear creative hearts on their sleeves

Arunway competition showcasing unique wearable art will be paraded and judged at a gala event in Millicent in October.

Time is running out for artists residing in the Limestone Coast to enter the competition, with registrations due to close on September 8.

The wearable art event is a project of local art group IMAG Imagine Millicent.

Artists are encouraged to use their imagination to create a wearable art garment to be showcased on October 14.

The evening gala event will take place from 7pm at the Millicent Civic and Arts Centre.

Garments can be made using materials of choice that can be worn by a live model.

Artistic elements such as graphics, colour, shape, texture and form will be taken into consideration when judged.

Five award categories are up for grabs, including most wearable, most imaginative, upcycling extraordinaire, student award and people’s choice.

Winning garments will be displayed at the Millicent Public Library after the event and during the Geltwood Festival.

Other garments featured on the runway will be available for viewing at Ant’s Redgum Gallery located on Williams Road at Millicent.

Group entries will be allowed with a maximum of three artists on any one project.

Entry forms are available at Millicent Public Library, McCourts Garden Centre Cafe, and visitor information centres at Millicent, Penola and Beachport.

A full list of the competition conditions is available on the entry forms and on the IMAG Imagine Millicent Facebook page.

Entries must be received by September 8.
