Awards shelved

The Millicent Business Community Association has had to cancel its annual “Night of Nights” on October 8.

Unfortunately, due to poor ticket sales, the Outstanding Business Awards night and the ‘Angels & Oils’ tribute show at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre has been cancelled.

The gala function had been promoted by the MBCA via mainstream and social media, posters and correspondence.

An MBCA statement said the organisation sincerely apologised for any inconvenience caused.

There had been 52 individuals and businesses nominated for an award in 2022.

The presentation of the Outstanding Business Awards will now be held at another event at a later date.

The Outstanding Business Awards is a 10-year tradition in Millicent and began in 2012 at the Somerset Hotel.

The event moved to Sandpipers Motel the following year and returned to the Somerset in 2014.

With the exception of the COVID-imposed cancellation in 2020, they have been held each subsequent year at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre.

Seating has been in a cabaret style, with a supper provided.

The awards and concert event celebrates outstanding businesses and employees in the Millicent area.
