Bargain hunters delight

Millicent’s largest garage sale of 2022 has been hailed a success.

More than 200 bargain hunters passed through the doors of the Millicent RSL War Memorial Hall on Saturday to pore over hundreds of items on offer.

The sale was staged by members of the Millicent Craft Group who are raising funds to extend their premises on Fifth Street.

There were various stalls ranging from books and bric-a-brac to clothing and jewellery.

A genuine Esky cooler could be had for just $5 while the asking price for a complete drum kit was only $300.

Garage sale coordinator Helen Joyce said around 20 of her fellow members set up the stalls on Friday while 15 were on duty on sale day.

“The takings were comparable to our 2021 garage sale while the weather was better,” Ms Joyce said.

“In all, we took about $2100 and this includes $300 for our Father’s Day raffle.

“Most of the left-over items will be donated to the five charity shops in Millicent.

“We need a larger building as the Millicent Craft Group has a waiting list of people wanting to join.”
