Further financial support is being provided to the Beachport Bowling Club by Wattle Range Council.
The January monthly council meeting endorsed a staff recommendation to allocate the maximum $2000 grant under its grants program for the purchase of eight sets of lawn bowls for coaching purposes.
The club is based in the building which served as Beachport’s railway station between 1879 and 1956.
The council-owned building underwent a $400,000 upgrade in 2021 using discretionary stimulus funds provided by the Federal Government.
Meanwhile, 14 other local sporting and community clubs received council grants totalling around $22,000 at the same meeting.
The other allocations were:
$1593 to the National Trust Glencoe Branch to improve access to public toilets.
$2000 to Nangwarry Museum and Community Hall for the fencing of an equipment display and roofing of timber displays
$1463 to the Millicent Shooting Starz Girl Guides to refurbish their giant games trailer.
$2000 to the Southend Progress Association towards the upgrade of Connies Walk.
$2000 to the Beachport Surf Lifesaving Club to establish a waterwise off grid precinct.
$922 to the Penola PA & H Society for the purchase of a hydraulic trolley to lift heavy items in their storage shed.
$1408 to the Millicent Cricket Club for appliances to fit out their new facility.
$2000 to the Millicent Football Netball Club to purchase new round catering tables with trolleys.
$2000 to the Millicent United Soccer Club to replace seating under the club verandah.
$1138.50 to the Millicent Bandits Baseball Club to replace pipework to the pump at Bolton Oval
$2000 to the Beachport Pony Club for the purchase of a ride-on mower.
$2000 to the South East Field & Game Association towards the purchase of a replacement ground maintenance tractor.
$905 to the Tantanoola Football Club to fund a club laptop, printer, internet and associated software,
$213 to the Rendelsham Cricket Club for the purchase of a club laptop.
