CFS volunteer shortage emergency

CFS volunteer shortage emergency

The Beachport CFS is in danger of losing its fire appliance unless it can attract additional volunteers.

Brigade captain Shaun Uotila has taken to social and mainstream media to outline the situation.

“The CFS is at a crossroad,” Mr Uotila said.

“If we are to lose many more members there will be a high chance, we will lose the truck from the town brigade.

“This will mean that Beachport residents will be waiting for a truck from Millicent or surrounds and could be an hour wait.

“Imagine if you or your family are in need and there is no one there to respond to a house fire, or vehicle accident.

“To become a CFS volunteer it’s only a police check and a one weekend course.

“CFS volunteers do not need to be available all the time.”
