Child exploitation investigation leads to Limestone Coast

Three Limestone Coast men have been arrested and charged in relation to alleged sex offences and child exploitation.

On Thursday detectives from the Special Crimes Investigation Branch arrested a 51-year-old man for one count of possession of child exploitation material and procuring a child for sexual activity.

He has been bailed to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on October 31.

Also on Thursday detectives from the same section arrested a 45-year-old man from the Limestone Coast for child sex offences.

He has been charged with breach of bail, possess child exploitation material and other child exploitation offences.

The man was refused police bail to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrate Court.

Last week detectives from the Special Crimes Investigation Section with the assistance of Limestone Coast Police arrested a 24-year-old man from the Limestone Coast for rape.

It will be alleged the rape occurred on Sunday, June 18 in the western suburbs of Adelaide.

The man was refused police bail to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court.

Special Crimes Investigators arrested three other men in connection with the incident on June 24.

Those previously arrested were a 27-year-old man and 22-year-old man from the western suburbs, and a 22-year-old man from Victoria who were subsequently remanded in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Lyons said sexual assaults can have both short and long-term traumatic impacts upon victims.

“The Special Crimes Investigation Section will continue to work tirelessly to solve these alleged crimes,” he said.
