City Chamber leaders meet

The Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce has a new leadership team after members last week gathered at The Henty for the annual general meeting, followed by a mix and mingle.

President Hayley Neumann did not renominate, with Candice Fennell taking over the reins of the chamber and Michael Kosch elected vice president.

Ms Neumann will remain on the committee as treasurer, with Kate Hill also joining the board to work alongside Rachael Ashman, Kelsie Prowse and Cathy Lunnay. Vice president Venetia Langlands and treasurer Jane Read both stood down after many years.

New president Ms Fennell thanked those who attended.

“It was a very successful evening and it was great to see so many of you join us. There was also a lot of new faces in the room who we look forward to getting to know more at our upcoming events and as part of our business community,” she said.

“I am proud to be so well supported, taking on the role of president of the chamber. I made the decision to take on this role because I feel very strongly about supporting businesses within our community, I enjoy the fulfilment I get from volunteering and I love leading a team. And what a great team we have – both the chamber team and the Mount Gambier business community.

“As the chamber board and I move ahead, focusing on delivering our objectives of advocacy, growth and connection, I’m asking for your support – join or continue to be a part of our chamber community and be a part of something bigger. Together we are stronger.”

Ms Neumann said she was looking forward to continuing her work with the chamber.

”The past three years as president of the chamber has been the most rewarding yet humbling experience of my life so far,” she said.

“I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing people on the board and in the community, who have each taught me a life lesson or two and I hope I have done them proud.

“I have sat around tables in awe of the people beside me, taken a selfie or two with the Premier and every day tried my best to be the voice of the chamber, our members and the Mount Gambier business community.”
