Coastal tourist park management secured

The operator of Mount Gambier’s Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre has won a further management contract for a public property in this region.

Wattle Range Council will enter into a contract with Belgravia Pro for the management of its Southern Ocean Tourist Park at Beachport for 12 months.

Belgravia Pro also has an option for a 12-month extension with first right of refusal to lease the caravan park at market rate.

The management contract became available earlier this year when long-time contract managers Heidi and Dan Prouse signalled they would relinquish the role.

The Beachport contract was awarded during a confidential portion of the June monthly council meeting.

Documents relating to the contract will not be publicly released at this time along with the legal advice provided to council by Adelaide law firm Norman Waterhouse.

Council spent around 50 minutes in closed session and resolved three other matters.

A Millicent firm has been awarded the $180,000 tender to upgrade the public toilets in Arthur Street, Penola.

As part of the renovations, the urinals in the male toilets will be replaced.

Council will purchase a 72” front deck mower from Toro Australia and will vary its budget.

The opening hours of council’s visitor information centres at Millicent, Beachport and Penola were reviewed and will be maintained.

Council will implement a ‘hub and spoke’ operating model where the Penola centre will act as the hub, maintaining current operating hours and the tourism accreditation.

The Beachport and Millicent centres will transition to ‘satellite sites’ maintaining the current operating hours.
