Council looks to reclaim rates

Properties at Millicent including dwellings and vacant blocks have been earmarked for sale by Wattle Range Council as a way of reclaiming unpaid rates.

The Local Government Act allows councils across South Australia to undertake this action in certain circumstances with Wattle Range Council identifying five such Millicent properties in this category.

According to the recently released confidential minutes of the November monthly meeting, there are also 14 dwellings and vacant blocks at Kalangadoo, Nangwarry, Tantanoola, Mount Burr, Hatherleigh and Penola where there are also outstanding rates.

Some of the dwellings were formerly owned by the South Australian Housing Trust.
