Two locals are teaming up to get creative for a fundraiser supporting Cancer Council Australia.
Matthew Tully and Phillip Montgomery are holding ‘Let’s Get Arty’, promising an afternoon of Pro Hart inspired art created on a car, carpet or square.
The event will take place from 1-5pm at 316 Cafpirco Road, Compton on Saturday, May 24 and include live music from Jimmy Bay and nibbles.
Parking will be available on site, attendees are encouraged to wear old clothes they are prepared to get paint on and bring their own drinks with water supplied.
Local businesses have donated and supported the fundraiser including Solomons Flooring, Mount Gambier Paint Plus, Coates Hire, Jimmybay Music and BeArtiful.
The event is raising money for Cancer Council Australia’s Mystery Box Rally in which the pair will drive a 1992 EB Ford Falcon under the team name ‘Straight Outta Compton’.
In 2025 the Mystery Box Rally will start on August 15 at Broken Hill with teams driving their own 25+ year old cars in a loop to finish at Broken Hill on August 20.
Teams will take a mystery route in the five day challenge with all other details kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.
Mr Tully competed in the 2024 Mystery Box Rally from Airlie Beach in Queensland with co-driver Liam Fielding and raised nearly $15,000.
