Elective surgery in the Limestone Coast will be cancelled on Thursday due to the public holiday declared in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The local cancellations come despite Adelaide patients still being able to receive elective surgery, after a number of city surgeons opted to work.
Limestone Coast Local Health Network chief executive Ngaire Buchanan said elective surgeries scheduled for Thursday at Limestone Coast hospitals, including Mount Gambier and Millicent, “will be rescheduled due to changes in staff availability.”
“We are working to notify impacted patients, and their surgeries will be rescheduled as a priority,” she said.
“Access to emergency surgery on the public holiday will be available as normal.
“We apologise for this disruption to our patients.”
