Faithful prepare for Lent with Pancake Day

Aspecial treat of pancakes was recently served to 50 patrons at the Penola RSL Hall on Shrove Tuesday.

Also known as Pancake Day, it is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

The Penola/Millicent Anglican Parish has staged the annual morning event as a fundraiser for over a decade.

Parish priest Father Lyndon Sulzberger said it has become a community event and not limited to people associated with the church.

“It was pleasing to see so many young people there and two youngsters also won the raffle,” Father Lyndon said.
