Finals hopes out of Div 1 Penola women

The Penola Bowling Club continued its minor round matches last week.


The Ladies Division 1 team played Kingston at Kingston and lost by 20 shots, 53-30.


This team is now fifth on the ladder and will not play in the finals.


The Ladies Division 2 team played Mount Gambier RSL at Penola and won by 19 shots, 53-34.


The rink skippered by Kathy Brooks won by 30 shot, s 88-45.


This win places the team third on the ladder and will play in the finals next week at Naracoorte RSL.


On Saturday the Open Division 2 team played Frances at Frances and won by 33 shots, 85-55, with all three rinks victorious.


The rink skippered by Justin Robbie won by eight shots, the rink skippered by Scott Degenhardt won by 18 and the rink skippered by Peter Thompson won by 17.


The win puts this team in third position on the ladder and guarantees a place in the finals.


The Division 3 South team had a bye.


This leaves the team 7th on the ladder.


The Division 3 North team played Lucindale at Penola and had a good win.


The rink skippered by Wayne Wachtel won by 25 shots and the rink skippered by Maria Hunter won by one and now sits 7th on the ladder.


Next week the Division 2 Open Pennants team will play the top team Kalangadoo at Penola.


The Division 3 North team will play Kingston at Kingston and Division 3 South will play Mount Gambier RSL at Penola.


The ladies played their Annual Handicap Singles last week, which has been sponsored by the Galpin Family for many years.


The winner this year was Christine Skeer and the runner-up was Maria Hunter.
