Firearms arrest

Aman has been arrested after unregistered firearms were found at Nangwarry.

About 12pm on Thursday, January 11 Firearms Branch detectives attended a Nangwarry residence to conduct a firearms security audit.

Police located four insecure firearms, two of which were unregistered semi-automatic rifles for which the owner was not licensed.

A 71-year-old man was arrested for firearms related offences and was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Police remind firearms owners of the legal requirement to store firearms and ammunition securely at all times in compliance with the Firearms Act.

Police urge anyone with information about breaches of the Firearms Act to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Visit police.sa.gov.au for further information.
