Foster carers in demand

Regional agency ac.care is calling for caring adults to consider becoming foster carers to provide safe homes and positive relationships for local children.

The agency is facing a shortage of carers in the region and increase in the number of local children entering care, prompting the call for people to consider opening their hearts and homes to vulnerable young people.

“We are seeking people with space in their hearts and homes to offer a child in the Limestone Coast their love and support as foster carers,” ac.care’s Dani Atkinson said.

“More caring adults are needed to become foster carers to support vulnerable local children long-term, short-term, in emergency situations or to provide occasional respite for other carers.”

You can find out more when ac.care hosts an information stall at the Mount Gambier Marketplace on Wednesday, April 27 from 10am to 2pm.

Drop by to meet Brock and Nick and discuss whether your personal circumstances match requirements for foster care.

You can also call ac.care on 1300 ACCARE or visit accare.org.au to find out more.
